Chitra Podcast #16 Ambient Mix by Neglect

Joseph Valentino is a visual artist and musician living in the desert outside Tucson, Arizona. He has been active in electronic music from the time he started DJing at house parties and raves in 1994 and then producing his own music under the moniker of Neglect in 2005. Most of his sonic output is released on his own Bandcamp page Neglectsound but he had tracks on labels such as Boomarm Nation, Shimmering Moods, Adventurous Music, and Harmonic Ooze.

"I had been thinking about a mix for several months but just couldn't get around to it. It's much easier to put it all together with a set of turntables, a mixer, and a CD deck but over the past few years, I have grown to prefer using Logic Pro to create mixes that don't require beat matching. It gives me the flexibility to add unreleased tracks of my own or make edits to songs or take things out at the last minute without having to re-record the whole session. I tend to get too tied up with working on my own music to refocus my attention on creating mixes so I tend to keep notes with a pad and pencil to get the ideas rolling. This one had some key tracks that I considered to set the tone for the story I wanted to create, it was just a matter of some sewing and patching to get the flow right.
